Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for choosing to purchase The Australian Brisket Board™ from Food Studio Shop Pty Ltd.

Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQ) about our business and products:

Q: What is The Australian Brisket Board™?

A: The Australian Brisket Board™ is a brand of timber cutting boards made by Food Studio Shop Pty Ltd. for people who need extra space to work with or present food on, and is available in our store and online.

Q: What are brisket boards?

A: Brisket boards by definition are cutting boards large enough to accommodate large cuts of meat such as a beef brisket, and generally have a large working area and a juice groove or channel designed to catch the run off from cooked meats.

Q: What types of wood are used to make your boards?

A: Mixed Australian hardwoods such as Spotted Gum (chocolate brown), Qld Blackbutt (blonde/ light brown), River Red Gums (deep reds) Sydney Blue Gum (lighter reds), Tallowwood (light brown/ caramel), Jarrah (dark brown and red)

Q: Are your boards safe for food?

A: Yes, all of our boards are food-safe as the timber we use is un-treated and naturally anti-bacterial and have been finished with food-grade oil and natural beeswax to protect the wood and make it safe for serving food.

Q: Can I use your boards for other foods besides brisket?

A: Yes, our boards can be used for serving and slicing other foods, such as charcuterie, cheese, and fruit.

Q: Do you offer customisation options?

A: Yes, we custom engrave and can make boards to specific sizes on request.

Q: Why are there imperfections on these boards?

A: Using recycled hardwoods means there are screws and bolts that have been removed, and in many cases tear out of the wood fibres or age related wear & tear that can't be removed, even after the timber has been milled and prepared for board making, adding to the character and authenticity of the product.

Q: How do I care for my brisket board?

A: Storing your board on its side when not in use is ideal. We recommend hand-washing your board with warm soapy water and drying it immediately. You can also periodically reapply our specially made Board Butter to protect and nourish the wood and maintain its beauty.

Q: Can I return or exchange my board if I am not satisfied?

A: We guarantee the quality and workmanship of all our boards, so if something’s not right we’ll ensure we find the best solution for you.

Q: How long does shipping take?

A: Shipping times vary depending on your location and the shipping method selected.

Q: Do you ship internationally?

A: Yes, we ship internationally to select countries. Please check our shipping policy for more information.
